Methodology

What we do not do

We do not invent statements by real people. We do not attribute crimes, manipulation or conflicts of interest without evidence. We do not claim causation just because two dates coincide.

Sources

We favor primary sources. Each source shows the date of the document, the day we accessed it and what it supports in the text. When access is limited, as with a paywall, we say so and do not claim to have read what we did not read.

Numbers

Every figure comes with period, unit, area and method. We distinguish announcements, works in progress, deliveries and actual operation, and promised jobs from observed jobs. Money values are compared with care for inflation. We do not publish made-up figures, and charts only use verifiable data. Amounts stay in Brazilian reais (R$), as in the original.

Images

Every image has its credit, caption, alt text and origin recorded. Illustrations and montages are labeled as such, and cartoons do not pretend to be photographs of events that did not happen.

Translations

This edition translates and adapts stories written in Portuguese. A joke may change to work in English; figures, dates, quotes and sources do not. Third-party quotes are our own translation, with a link to the original. Each translation is tied to the version of the original it came from: if the Portuguese text is corrected, the English page says so until we redo it.
